4-H is the most well-known program of the WVU Extension Service.

Did you know that in 4-H you can build rockets, learn photography, be a news reporter, raise small pets, do computer projects, go to camp and make new friends? Did you know that 4-H is for everyone between the ages of 5 and 21? That’s right, everyone! In 4-H you can learn leadership skills, be a mentor, and contribute to your community!

4-H Programs in Wood County
Teen Leaders
Teen Leaders is a program where teens have the opportunity to develop advanced leadership abilities through a variety of real-life leadership roles.
4-H Camps
Wood County offers four 4-H camps: one overnight camp for Cloverbuds; a week-long camp for older youth; a week-long camp for horse project members; and a week-long camp for younger children.
Cloverbud
Cloverbud is a program for youth 5 – 8 years of age. Children experience 4-H through fun, hands-on activities that relate to the 4-H project areas.
4-H Afterschool
In Wood County, 4-H Afterschool partners with YMCA and Children’s Home Society to offer 4-H programming and curriculum, as well as fun, hands-on learning activities for youth.
Energy Express
Energy Express is an award winning, six-week summer reading program that offers two nutritious meals a day. In Wood County, we offer two Energy Express summer reading sites at Martin and Madison Elementary Schools.
